Leaders Voice
Who are the engineering and scientific leaders of the 21st century? They will be engineers and scientists reflecting the evolution of our professions. “The Engineer of 2020” report says engineers will have a wide range of complementary, nontechnical skills. Society will need them to address “real problems facing mankind,” including energy, sustainability and health care.
As engineers and scientists, our future leaders will understand the societal impact of their professions, be well-versed in technology and function in global enterprises. They will also motivate people and organizations to improve the quality of life around the world.
About our organization
Our Mission
The mission of the Emerging
Leaders Alliance is to provide an interdisciplinary community of learning for
engineering and scientific professionals, promoting the development of great
leaders to guide our professions in addressing the needs of people in the 21st century. Through intensive in-person
training sessions and a continuing online community forum, the Alliance seeks to
build upon its mission by:
- Promoting career advancement of professionals
- Promoting the engagement of engineering and scientific leadership in societal
concerns
Formation of the Emerging Leaders Alliance
The Emerging Leaders Alliance seeks to
foster leadership in the engineering and scientific community. Leadership is the
art, science and craft of influencing people to accomplish tasks and improve
organizations. That leadership starts with technical excellence, which is
promoted by the engineering founder societies.
The Emerging Leaders Alliance was formed in 2008 as a cooperative project of the Founder Societies. In addition to technical competency, today’s engineering leaders need broad skills to meet the real problems facing mankind, including energy, sustainability and health care.
In 2008, the Alliance launched this website that features information on the Capstone Programs, commentary and views on engineering and scientific leadership, key resources and a private community
discussion board, only accessible by program participants.
